The Retail Academy is committed to protecting the privacy of our website users and learners, and, to that end, we are disclosing here any issues related to privacy in the collection of personally identifiable information when registering for our training and websites.
We are bound by law in the ways we can handle any personal information that you pass on to us. We must collect the information fairly—that's to say, we have to tell you how we intend to use the information. The Retail Academy promise not to share your information with any other party, and we are legally obliged to honour this promise.*
*The only exception to this is detailed in point seven of the summary.
Summary
The measures taken by the Retail Academy to protect our users' privacy can be summarised as follows:
- Retail Academy websites do not automatically record personal data from visitors to the site, other than to log the user's IP address (which allows us to tell one user from another), the type of browser they're using (which helps us ensure that pages display properly), the pages they visited, and the length of their visit. This information is used only for administration of the site system and in the compilation of statistics used by the Retail Academy to assess the use of the site
- Any personal information you supply to us will only be used by the Retail Academy and its agents and service providers, and will then only be used in ways that directly relate to the running and maintenance of our websites and training courses
- If your employer has paid for you to access Retail Academy training or websites and provided you with a username and password, you have the right to access and use the services and content according to the terms of your employer’s agreement with the Retail Academy. If your employer has provided personal information to Retail Detail, we will treat it as confidential as outlined in point two above. However, unless advised by you in writing, we will share information that you enter into the skills analysis system and learning tracking information with your employer. We will not share it with any other party
- The Retail Academy considers the protection of our customers’ sensitive company data to be of utmost importance. If you use our web products to store your corporate data, it will be held on our servers, and The Retail Academy will take reasonable measures to ensure that such data is not accessed by unauthorised persons. We will only handle your data as required for the administration of Retail Academy training
- The Retail Academy may contact you by post, email, or telephone with information that is directly relevant to your subscription to, account at, or use of Retail Academy services and products
- From time to time, the Retail Academy may send out information and newsletters containing information that we believe is of direct interest to users of Retail Academy websites and training. This is strictly on an opt-in basis—if you would like to receive a copy of the newsletter, you must let us know when, or after, you register
- In exceptional circumstances—for example, if you post offensive, inappropriate, or objectionable comments in a discussion forum, the Retail Academy may use whatever information it holds about you to stop such behaviour. Although such situations would normally be settled privately, the Retail Academy reserves the right to contact relevant third parties in such a situation
- You decide whether to publicly post any personal information when participating in online discussions. The Retail Academy strongly recommend that you do not post email addresses or other contact details in public discussion forums
- This privacy policy does not cover the links within our websites linking to other sites
